A once tired and disconnected restaurant located in the financial district at the gateway to Chinatown, Café de la Presse now actively attracts residents and visitors alike. Reconnection of the café’s two original spaces was accomplished by unifying the lower café and newly appointed bar in handcrafted zinc. Sourcing of materials, fixtures, furniture and lighting was important in developing the restaurant’s new venue as a French bistro. The café was painted with artistic and historic sensitivity both inside and at the street edges. Accomplished within a limited budget and severe schedule constraints, the café’s renewed success and culinary excellence are unparalleled.
